Yoga classes taught at Yogasta's online live sessions
Hata Yoga
Hatha yoga stems from a deep understanding of the mechanics of the body. Hata yoga is a ‘Yoga of Balance’. It includes classical yoga postures done mindfully with awareness to breath and mind. It helps to bring peace to the body & mind and in preparing the body for deeper spiritual practices such as meditation.
It is relatively gentle and great for beginners. It will involve a set of yoga postures and breathing techniques, practiced slowly and with longer duration of hold in each posture. Classes typically start with a gentle warm-up, advance to more physical postures, and end with cooling down practices. Few benefits: It improves bone density, immunity, heart health, core strength, aids in weight loss, anxiety & stress relief and overall a beneficial practice for body, breath and mind.
Vinyasa Yoga
Vinyasa yoga is characterized by stringing yoga postures together so that you flow from one posture to another with the movements being synchronized by breath. Vinyasa means to ‘Move with the Breath’, which is essentially the core of a Vinyasa class. So here you coordinate movements with breath to flow from one pose to the next.
Vinyasa flow yoga will be high on intensity, helps build strength and stamina and help in weight loss. It helps to improve range of motion and cardiovascular health. It helps with stress relief as it can be a moving meditation.
Asana, Pranayama & Meditation
Asana, Pranayama and Meditation are three of the eight limbs of yoga.
In Asana practice you go through a few postures with breath awareness. Asana practice will be followed by pranayama practice in which you will do breathing practices to help free up tensions that are stored in the body. Pranayama practice will be followed by meditation in which you are inviting to step back into the aspect of yourself that is the witness or the observer of all your experiences that are present.
APM class brings about holistic benefits to your body, breath and mind and is primarily focused on relaxing the body and mind of all the internal & physical tensions and knots.
Yin Yoga
Yin yoga is a very relaxing form of yoga which will include a variation of passive postures held for longer duration, thus helping to work on the deeper connective tissues. It has a meditative approach to it. While Yang Yoga practices(like Hata and Vinyasa Yoga) provide enormous benefits for physical, mental and emotional health, especially for those living a sedentary modern lifestyle, ‘Yin Yoga’ is all about slowing down, relaxing and being a meditative practice while working on the connective tissues, helping to improve the joint range of motion and relaxing your muscles. It helps to calm the body and mind, provides better flexibility and mobility, deep relaxation, cope with anxiety & stress and practicing yin yoga once or twice a week helps to have a better yang practice. Yin yoga helps to bring back balance if one is tired & craving energy or if one is over-stimulated & has too much energy.
Restorative Yoga
Restorative yoga involves yoga postures, supported by props that will allow you to completely relax and rest in each of the posture. It is a healing and therapeutic practice. Restorative yoga will calm and reset your entire body and mind. It is a slow paced practice. The main focus of restorative Yoga is that by relaxing in poses without strain or pain, you can achieve physical, mental and emotional relaxation.
Restorative yoga helps to deeply relax the body and still & calm the mind, balance the nervous & immune system and improve capacity for healing.
Themed Yoga
Themed yoga class will include yoga sessions focusing on a specific areas/muscles in the body, giving the class a unidirectional flow, experiencing the practice at a deeper level and exploring oneself deeper on mat as well as in life in general. These classes will provide an opportunity to learn something new regularly and apply them in day to day lives for a holistic well-being. The themed yoga class may also include session by a Guest Yoga Teacher.
