WHAT ARE KOSHAS?
Koshas are the five layers or sheaths that cover each one us, like layers of an onion. They represent different aspects of our being, from the physical body to the deepest level of blissful body. Understanding these layers and focusing on them helps you to work on different aspects of yourself to achieve overall well-being and inner peace.
Annamaya Kosha (Physical Layer)
This is your physical body, made of bones, muscles, and organs. It’s the layer that you can touch and see.
Pranamaya Kosha (Energy Layer)
This is your life force or energy body, which includes your breath and the energy that keeps you alive and active.
Manomaya Kosha (Mental and Emotions Layer)
This is your mind and emotions. It involves your thoughts, feelings, and the way you react to the world around you.
Vijnanamaya Kosha (Intellect Layer)
This layer is about your intellect and intuition. It helps you make decisions, understand things, and gain wisdom.
Anandamaya Kosha (Bliss Layer)
This is the deepest layer, representing pure joy and spiritual happiness. It’s the feeling of bliss that comes from being in touch with your true self.
